Visitors to Reed Lake in Chin State

More foreign tourists visit heart-shaped Reed Lake, also known as Rih Dil Lake, in Phalan District of northern Chin State.

“Most are families come from Mizoram State in India on Sundays. Burmese visitors mainly come only in March, April or May. But the numbers are small. Transport to Chin State is difficult,” a resident of Reedkhawda said.

The journey to Reed Lake from Yangon, Mandalay or Monwya have to travel via  Kalaymyo, Sagaing Region, then take a motorbike to the lake for 90 miles. The roads have apparently improved.

The lake has cultural significance for Mizo Indians.
