MNL kicks off Jan 5

The 2013 season of Myanmar National League (MNL) will begin on January 5, the Myanmar Football Federation (MFF) has announced.
Twelve teams will take part in next year’s league.
Beginning on January 5, the first leg will continue till May 12 while the second leg will be held between May 18 and August 25.
The teams are: Yangon United FC (defending champion), Ayeyarwady United FC, Hantharwady United FC, Kanbawza FC, Magwe FC, Manaw Myay FC, Nay Pyi Taw FC, Rakhine United FC, Southern Myanmar FC, Yadanarbon FC, Zeyar Shwe Myay FC and Zwekapin United FC.
Meanwhile, the MFF will also hold the Communities Shield on December 30 at Aung San Stadium in Yangon.
MNL champion Yangon United FC and MFF Cup champion Ayeyarwady United FC will compete for the Shield. In their last encounter for the Communities Shield last year, Ayeyarwady won 5-3 in Penalties shoot-out.
