SEA Games 2013: Yangon to host 11 events

Eleven events out of twenty eight sports of the SEA Games 2013 will be held in Yangon.

Myanmar is hosting the 27th Southeast Asian Games, which is going to begin on December 11 next year.

Apart from Nay Pyi Taw, the new capital, the games will be held two other main cities – Yangon and Mandalay.

They events to be held in Yangon are: football, futsal, badminton, tennis, acrobatics, shooting, sepak takraw, wrestling, body building, table tennis and chess.

According to officials in Yangon, the events will be held in two stadiums and seven sport fields in Thingangyun, Hline, Lanmadaw, Theinbyu and Dagon Myothit (North) townships besides Myanmar Convention Centre and Traders Hotel (downtown).

Preparations for beautification of the venues will begin soon, an official from the Yangon Region government said, adding that Yangon City Development Committee will be responsible for the task.
