The Arakan Army (AA) says it has clashed with the Tatmadaw on March 26 in Paletwa Township of Chin State.

The ethnic rebels say the fight lasted more than one hour in the afternoon, disclosing no further details of the battle.

“It was yesterday. No more fight today. We met while on the way. It’s not like Kokang. We don’t have any base here. In Kokang, we attacked their bases and they attacked ours,” said Dr Nyo Tun Aung, deputy commander-in-chief of the AA.

The Ta'ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) also said it clashed with the Tatmadaw on the evening of March 26 in northern Shan State.

The Tatmadaw made no announcements about these clashes.

The ethnic armed groups such as AA, TNLA, KIA and MNDAA formed the Northern Alliance, which are not signatories to the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement.
