President Htin Kyaw discussed the problem of tax evasion and corruption with Singapore’s Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong recently.
President Htin Kyaw received Singapore’s goodwill delegation led by Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong at the Presidential Residence in Nay Pyi Taw on March 15.
The two countries focused on improved cooperation in bilateral trade and investment, travel and tourism capable of improving the State’s economy. They also discussed the importance of small-and-medium enterprises, the correct use of power meters, the leading role of private businessmen, the elimination of bribery and corruption and tax evasion which is capable of bringing about negative effects on the State’s economy.
Also present were Union Ministers Than Zin Maung, Thein Swe, Dr Myo Thein Gyi, Deputy Minister Kyaw Tin and officials from the Myanmar side, Singapore delegation members and Robert Chua, Singapore’s ambassador to Myanmar.
After the meeting a ceremony was held at the Presidential Residence to sign a MoU on the extension of the Singapore-Myanmar Vocational Training Institute (SMVTI).
Dr Aye Myint, Director-General of Technical and Vocational Education and Training under the Ministry of Education and Robert Chua, Singapore’s ambassador to Myanmar signed the MoU in the presence of President Htin Kyaw and Singapore’s Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong.
Singapore’s goodwill delegation visited Myanmar from March 14 to 16.
