The Thanlwin River – a victim of misdirected electric power

The Myanmar government is trying to focus on generating electricity from cost-effective water resources to meet local demand for electricity.

The public does not accept the Myitsone dam project as a way to generate hydroelectric power from the Ayeyawady River, nor does it accept coal-fired power projects. When it comes to gas-fired power projects, gas from the existing projects is not enough for domestic consumption as it is being excessively produced for export purposes.  Besides, natural gas has a high production cost.

Aspiring to hidden govt

Aung San Suu Kyi told the Forum 2000 Conference in September 2013 in the Czech Republic that the best governments go about their business without being noticed.

A 500 billion political land mine and Myanmar’s gaping budget

Growth retardation of the agricultural sector connects too many aspects of economy issues such as lack of investment, lack of industrialization, obstacles in producing and distribution of goods, high unemployment rates, etc.

It is a high priority economic policy that the new government must endeavor to implement as the development of the agricultural sector directly influences rural development.

Note from Dr. Than Htut Aung, CEO of Eleven Media Group

Two years ago, the question is asked to then President U Thein Sein and Commander-in-Chief Min Aung Hlaing whether they will keep holding on power. Back then, it was not easy to ask such a strong question. It can still be seen how strong and straightforward the question was. NLD and Daw Aung San Suu Kyi supporters need to understand we are doing our work. NLD government and its supporters need to expect criticisms and suggestions.

Myanmar stands at ninth place in poor press freedom according to the CPJ. The Freedom House stated that Myanmar included in the list of countries that have not press freedom.

Don’t forget detained students

“The charges increased within one year.”

A student leader Phyo Phyo Aung says so.

She has been tried four days a week for calling educational reforms alongside fellow student protest leaders, Min Thwe Thit and Nanda Sitt Aung.

More than 100 boycott students and protestors have been sued with charges that can imprison them for at least nine years.

In fact they did not demonstrate for their self-interest, and they are not criminals. They just asked for reforms in the education system for the country’s sake.
