Clashes broke out between the Restoration Council of Shan State (RCSS) and the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) in northern Shan State for four consecutive days, with both sides suffering causalities, according to the TNLA.

Clashes between these two ethnic armed groups occurred three times in Kyaukme and Mong Ton on July 4, two times in Mong Ton on July 5 and three times in Mong Ton on July 6, said Mai Aik Kyaw, the TNLA's spokesman.

No negotiations have been held.

“The RCSS sent a letter calling for negotiations this month. We agreed and asked to meet in Mongla but there has been no reply," Mai Aik Kyaw said.

The RCSS was unavailable for comment.

Both sides have renewed clashes last November, suffering causalities and displacing residents.
