Thousands of people gathered in Mandalay on November 19 to show support for Myanmar’s military and “good” civil servants.
Participants of the event chanted well wishes for the Commander-in- Chief of Defence Services, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, as well as the military in general and civil servants who are all working towards the goal of “protecting Myanmar’s sovereignty and unity”.
They also read out an honorary message penned by the controversial “nationalist” monk Wirathu and then proceeded on with their schedule throughout the day of chanting, walking and listening to guest speakers that were sympathetic to their cause.
The event was organised by a self-proclaimed group of “military supporters”. Participants also hailed from regions including Yamelthin, Meiktila and Pyawbwe.
