A peace destination road must be walked by joining hands with each other, upholding the political Panglong spirit, and ending suspicions and conflicts lying inside the Union, State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi said in her message sent to the Shan New Year celebrations.
In her message, she said: “I wish all brothers and sisters of ethnic Shan nationals received all blessings on the auspicious occasion of the 2112 Shan New Year celebrations.
“I am delighted and take pride that you have granted me an opportunity to send a message of greetings. New Year is a time when we must review our efforts and experiences of the past and we must renew our energies in order to attain blessing and hopes in the New Year.
“On such the suspicious occasion of Shan New Year celebrations, I would like to urge all of you to make the whole Union flourish through Shan State, where seeds of unity between the highlands and the mainland can be sown alongside Shan ethnics singing Shan traditional songs, reciting cultural songs and keeping cultures and traditions alive in the successive years of Shan ethnics,” said Aung San Suu Kyi.
All sons and daughters of the Union should create a favourable environment capable of enjoying the fruits of peace and ending suspicions and conflicts, she said.
“ We should pass on a peaceful, stable, united democratic federal Union as a fine legacy. We should march together successfully through Panglong spirit, the most significant symbol in Myanmar history, Aung San Suu Kyi said.
