State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi visited Tin Oo, National league for Democracy patron, at Yangon General Hospital recently where he is undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit.
After her visit, on the day she returned from a visit to Sweden on June 14, Suu Kyi met with the patients from the cardiac ward and other patients who were waiting in the hospital compound.
Dr Tin Myo Win, Chairman of Peace Commission and Phyo Min Thein, Yangon Chief Minister was also at the hospital when Suu Kyi arrived.
Dr Aye Ko Ko, Medical Superintendent of YGH, said: “The state counsellor had seen the NLD patron twice. The second visit came after she returned from Sweden. She felt pleased to see Tin Oo’s recovery. She asked the medical superintendent for the progress of the patient and was told that he had been advised to heed medical advice and to look after his health.
“She told the NLD’s patron she hoped to see him back on Martyrs’ Day and that she would like to see Tin Oo offering meals to Buddhist monks. Fifteen senior doctors will discuss the patient’s after-care with the family. The patient cannot talk clearly and his left hand can move a little. His right leg cannot move at all. He can sit down, but he cannot walk yet. We hope that the patient will be discharged at the end of June,” said Aye Ko Ko.
