FDA officers conduct surprise checks on drug stores in Hlaingthaya Township.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) conducted surprise checks on drug stores in Hlaingthaya Township in Yangon on September 8.
In late July and August, the FDA found mixed and unlicensed medicines in drug stores outside Yangon and took action against store owners. The FDA said it was increasing its Yangon checks.
Ministry of Health and Sports has warned that action will be taken against companies and drug stores which import and distribute fake and substandard medicine, in accord with the National Drug Law.
From 2013 until June 2017, the FDA said there had been 265 cases sued under the National Drug Law: 71 in 2013, 19 in 2014, 51 in 2015, 99 in 2016 and 25 in 2017.
