HANOI (Viet Nam News/ANN) - Northeast Asia remained the largest market for Vietnamese tourism in the first six months of 2017, accounting for more than a half of the total international arrivals.

S'pore named 9th most economically vibrant city globally

SINGAPORE (The Straits Times/ANN) - Republic jumps 12 places in index ranking cities on property investment opportunities.

Singapore has shot up by 12 places in a league table that ranks cities on opportunities for property investment.

The index, launched last August, looks at factors such as retail sales, household income, adult population size and gross domestic product to determine how economically vibrant a city is.

Dengue fever risks increase in Mekong Delta

HO CHI MINH CITY (Viet Nam News/ANN) - Thousands of people in the region were infected with dengue fever since the beginning of the year at an alerting rate compared to 2016's.

The number of dengue infections has risen significantly in the Cuu Long (Mekong) Delta, particularly in Can Tho City and the provinces of Dong Thap, Ben Tre, Ca Mau and Tien Giang, according to the Ministry of Health.

Coffee growers counting beans, out of pocket for product

VIENTIANE (Vientiane Times/ANN) - Dao-Heuang Group will seek to repay the money it owes the country’s coffee farmers as soon as possible after the company fell several months behind in payments for the raw beans.  

The company now owes farmers a total of 27 billion kip after it paid off significant debts according to the Champassak provincial Industry and Commerce Department.

Representatives of the company made a commitment to pay back the money owed farmers at a meeting in the province.

PM calls for combined efforts to fight drug abuse, illicit trafficking

VIENTIANE (Vientiane Times/ANN) - Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith has called for combined efforts from Lao people from all walks of life to join global citizens in the fight against the illegal drug trade and abuse.

The prime minister made the call yesterday as he marked the 30th anniversary of International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (June 26, 1987 – June26, 2017).
