Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Services, met his counterpart General Sommai Kaotira from Thailand in Nay Pyi Taw on February 3.
They discussed election issues, the military’s role in securing stability, training, sending recruits for lessons in agricultural and livestock breeding and increasing the relationship with the Thai armed forces, military sources said.
Establishing the Asean Economic Community (AEC) will enhance peace and stability within the region, according to Le Luong Minh, secretary general of the association.
“Asean will unite on political, economic and social issues now members share strong beliefs and perspectives. The people share friendships and want peace and stability in the region. We will experience opportunities and riches by joining together with the rest of the world,” said the secretary general.
The AEC will start on December 31.

Preparations for the establishment of the Asean Economic Community (AEC) remain incomplete at a time when there is only four months left before its implementation.
The AEC is one of three pillars of the Asean Community, which also includes the Asean Political-Security Community (APSC) and the Asean Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC). The AEC is scheduled for establishment by December 31, 2015.

More than 150 workers from industrial zones in Yangon Region staged a march on the 125th International Labour Day on May 1, calling for rights and a daily wage of Ks5,600.
The workers marched from the Bo Sein Mahn ground in Bahan Township to Kyaikkasan, holding placards saying “Daily pay of Ks5,600”, “rights for workers”, “release detained workers” and “release arrested farmers”.
