Asean flag to be seen in flypast, indigenous eye in sky to make debut at R-Day

The flag of Asean would fly in the sky this Republic Day with Mi-17 V5 helicopters, the first in the fly past on January 26, sporting the standard of the regional intergovernmental organisation along with the Indian flag and flags of the three forces.

The first formation in the R-Day parade will be an “Ensign” formation with five Mi-17 V5 choppers. The first chopper would fly the national flag, followed by the second one which will have the ASEAN flag, tailed by three more with the flags of Army, Navy and Air Force.

Indonesia's Mt Rinjani to get Unesco recognition as global geopark this year

JAKARTA (The Jakarta Post/ANN) - Mount Rinjani, along with its buffer zone in Lombok Island, West Nusa Tenggara, (NTB) will be included in Unesco’s Global Geopark list this year, Indonesian officials have said.

Known for its breathtaking peak and a crescent-shaped crater lake named Segara Anak, Rinjani is one of the main tourist destinations in the province.

Indonesian islands listed for sale online

JAKARTA (The Jakarta Post/ANN) - Two of Indonesia’s islands have been listed for sale on, an international property website managed by Ontario-based Private Island Inc., which specialises in island properties.

Ajab Island in Riau Islands province and Tojo Una Una Island in Central Sulawesi have been listed on the website since Tuesday.

Export growth hits 7-year high but outlook more muted

SINGAPORE (The Straits Times/ANN) - Non-oil domestic exports grew 9.2% in 2017, but December figures miss estimates as electronics shipments slow.

A global electronics boom propelled Singapore's export growth to a seven-year high last year - but an underwhelming showing last month hinted that this pace will be tough to sustain.

While trade demand is set to remain robust, exports are expected to grow at a more sedate pace this year, economists said.
